Nereide Verdigris

Venice is a city that changes over time. The lagoon water, salty air, and humidity slowly transform the metals of its architecture. Domes, statues, and decorative copper and brass surfaces develop a turquoise-green patina called verdigris, one of the most recognizable hues of the Venetian landscape.

The Nereide Verdigris dial is born from this transformation. Crafted from brass, it undergoes a controlled oxidation process that generates its characteristic patina, creating shades of green, turquoise, and blue. Each dial is slightly different and recalls the colors of Venetian metals exposed to time and the lagoon.

Source of Inspiration

The idea took shape by observing how the metals of Venice change over the years. Copper and brass, exposed to the lagoon air, gradually develop the characteristic verdigris patina, with shades of green and turquoise. This natural phenomenon became the inspiration for the project: to transfer those same nuances and materiality to the Nereide dial.

Transformation of Material

The Nereide Verdigris dial is created from a brass base. Through a handcrafted process of controlled oxidation and flaming, the surface develops its characteristic patina, rich in texture and color variations. Each plate reacts slightly differently, generating unpredictable patterns that make each dial unique.

The verdigris patina gives the dial a rich, three-dimensional surface, characterized by irregular shades of green, turquoise, and blue. The texture, created through the artisanal process of oxidizing and flaming the brass, creates visual depth and ever-changing reflections in the light. The result is a dial with a highly textured aesthetic, where every detail reflects the natural transformation of the metal.

Born from a Iconic Submarine

The submarine Nereide, which inspires the entire collection, is depicted submerged in the engraving at the center of the caseback, to remind how this watch doesn't compromise on underwater performance, retaining the ability to dive up to 200m deep and the rotating bezel that allows monitoring of dive times.
