Nereide Chimera

Venice is, by its very nature, a chimera.
A city built on water, in a place where it should not have existed, born from the ability to unite incompatible elements and transform them into structure, balance, and endurance. Its symbol, the winged lion, reflects the same idea of a fusion between different natures.

This principle inspires the experimentation at the heart of the project. The dial is crafted from tiger iron, an exotic material created by combining tiger’s eye, red jasper, and hematite. Three distinct stones that coexist within a layered, unpredictable surface.

The symbol of an impossible city

In mythology, the chimera is a creature born from the union of different natures. It does not emerge as a chaotic figure, but as a synthesis: a new, stable form in which diverse elements coexist without canceling one another out. Its strength lies not in the individual parts, but in their balance. Throughout history, the chimera has become a symbol of experimentation and transformation. It represents the ability to move beyond the limits imposed by tradition, bringing together what was never meant to coexist.

The Structure of the Iron Tiger

The stone's layers emerge from the union of tiger's eye, red jasper, and hematite, three mineral components with distinct structures and behaviors. Their combination creates an unpredictable natural surface, where intense red, dark veining, and metallic highlights are distributed differently. Each dial is unique, determined by the composition of the material itself, and it is precisely this union of heterogeneous elements that gives rise to the name Chimera.

Artisanal Precision

The dial is crafted from select Iron Tiger slabs, oriented and cut to enhance their natural layers. Each disc is thinned to approximately 0.4 mm, maintaining the integrity necessary for assembly. A controlled polishing process defines the surface and enhances the contrasts between the ferrous red and golden highlights, before the application of indexes and details.

Material Selection

Each fragment is individually observed and assessed for chromatic quality, layering, and stability. Only those pieces that exhibit a balance of grain, contrast, and structural integrity are selected for processing, in a process that prioritizes the understanding of the material before any technical intervention.

Mechanical Heart

The Nereide Chimera is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 caliber. Completing it is our proprietary rotor, designed to combine functionality and aesthetic identity. The skeletonized structure, decorated with radial Côtes de Genève stripes and chamfered edges, showcases the movement beneath. The 3N red gold galvanic treatment enhances its geometry and details, maintaining a consistent color scheme.

500 pcs Limited Edition

The packaging echoes the intense red of the Iron Tiger stone, a dominant hue that recalls its natural stratifications and visually develops the concept. The surface becomes an extension of the project, illustrating the connection between the Lion of St. Mark, in its composite nature, and the material of the dial. The graphics lend continuity to the idea of the chimera as a union of different elements, transforming the box into an integral part of the product's identity.

Care for details

For this edition, we're introducing a new strap in FKM rubber, a high-performance technical material known for its resistance, stability, and comfort over time. Its structure ensures flexibility and durability, while the dark red hue echoes the dominant color of the stone and packaging, completing the project's color identity.
